Birdseed wreaths

 I make these wreaths just about every year.   I usually hang them in the back of the house farther away.  but I wanted to see if the birds would eat on them.  I know the chipmunks love the seeds on the wreaths.  Hung this up and before I got back to the house a bird was checking it out.

Through the Lens

"Through the Lens"  is a quilt I did for the HERstory quilt exhibit.  This is Dorothea Lange, she was a photographer for the federal government, she documented the dust bowl and the internment of the Japanese.   If you ever have the honor to visit the Heart Mountain Japanese Internment camp Museum. ( Between Cody and Powell Wyoming)  As you walk in the door you will see a black and white photo that is a shot of a building in California (I believe) There is a huge banner on that building that says,   "We are Americans"   I was thrilled that this art quilt was juried into the HERstory exibhit and has traveled many places over the last 4 years. All the quilts in this exhibit have been published in a book and is available from Amazon.  Susanne Miller Jones is the curator and the book title is HERstory A Celebration of Strong Women.   SHE IS ON HER WAY BACK HOME!!  
 

Mother Natures fence? or is it art?

Yep,  always  something interesting on our daily walks.  This is a walk we found, for the most part is flat.  We call this walk "Tetons walk"  our dog Teton is 13 years old, her back legs are weak,  but she does love our daily walks. She loves this walk.  I thought the natural pile of branches and trees looks like a wall.  

Oh the flowers are in full bloom up here in these beautiful Mountains!!

A hike in the Beartooth Mountains

Always surprises around every corner on a new hike we take,  this one was about a year ago.  But we hope to make it up here again this year.  

Heart Mountain

 On a day heading into Cody,  Often Heart Mountain is in clouds, or in full view,  I just thought this am the color was just enough different it was worth the stop for the shot.

Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River ( summer of 2021)

 This is a beautiful river,  it flooded this spring along with much of the destruction of Yellowstone National Park.  This is just a few miles from our home.   I love this hike but have not taken it yet this summer.  We will but just delayed it for a month or so.

Noodle cutter

My Mom taught me how to make homemade egg noodles.  She would roll them out and cut them with a knife,  for years I would roll them out and cut them with a pizza cutter.  Both ways work,  but not always consistent width.   One day my husband came up from his workshop with this in his hand.  This is what he made for me.  Not sharp enough to cut the noodles but boy are they consistently the same size.  I can then cut with my pizza cutter, all the same size.  Awesome! 

Cherrywood Challenge 2019 Bob Ross

This is my Cherrywood challenge 2019.  Covid has caused the delivery back home of this little quilt to be delayed.   I still do not have it in my hands.  Unfortunately,   I also have not a clue when it will be home, or even where it is.   

Inspiration for this quilt was a Bob Ross meme,  "You can do anything here-the only pre-requisite is that it make you happy" My personal challenge was to use every bit of the fabric in the challenge packet.  

Family Under the Sea

The background is embellished with different colors of silk ribbons and threads.  The shiney bottom was cut from a friends dress she wore to her sons wedding.  (the beads were on that fabric)  I thread painted the sea turtles and applied to the background.   This was quilted on my longarm machine.

Hatchling

 This was the companion piece I made for the piece titled Family Under the Sea.  (stay tuned it will be on this blog next week)  Hatchling (the baby itself) was thread painted, the egg was painted on a different piece of fabric and then applied to the background.   WAV (Women of Artistic Vision )  fiber art group out of Billings Montana. this was a yearly challenge.  This and the companion piece are mounted on a canvas. 

New look for Hobbit

This guy is thread painted and put on a background.  The Llama is owned by a friend,  myself and 3 other women went on a hike in the Beartooth Mountains of Wy,  several years ago.  Hobbit  packed all my gear for the trip.  A new look,  not exactly,  I used a photo that I thought was Hobbit,  but come to find out Hobbit is bit darker than the photo I had.  So... a new look

Just bark

I took this photo for a future TAGY challenge.  Our theme is close up or zoom in.  This is textural and the colors are really fun.  I might or might not choose this one for that challenge but it could be alot of fun!
 

A bridge, a tree a sight to see!

 Yes, this tree is living and growing.  Every hike their are those unusual things, brought to us by mother nature or I say our almighty God.  This is one of those unusual things. I often wonder how I cannot grow a tree I pamper for several years, with water and attention, it dies.  Yet here a tree is knocked down and yet still thrives into this beauty????

 Its always a beautiful drive from our home to Cody.  Always changing, always beautiful.

 This was last fall of 2021but thinking this might make a beautiful fiber art piece.  I have lots of photos of Pilot / Index,  It might be a hard choice winter, spring, summer, fall? 

Zebra

This quilt is totally thread painted,  using my sewing machine hooping the fabric and then hours and hours of using the thread and machine to paint the white and black threads into the Zebra.  My favorite kind of "art quilt".    The beads are hanging loose at the bottom of the Zebra.
